Lost & lost

Let's say you're having lunch with a friend in a busy cafeteria. From the corner of your eye, you see someone pass by and drop trash. You're engaged in the conversation with your friend so you just ignore the obvious littering. A few moments pass and you just happen to glance over at the trash and see... wait a minute. That's not trash! It's money.

You pick up the fallen bills and see it's only $7. In an attempt to return the money to the stranger, you proceed in the direction you thought they went. But all you see is a sea of people. You've got no clue as to who the money belongs to. What do you do?

In my case, I thought it fair to give the money to my friend since, heck, he did pay for lunch. I mean, what else could we do? Stick around for someone to finally realize they lost only $7? Put the money at Lost & Found hoping someone will claim it? My friend, who likes to Walk Aimlessly, felt bad for taking the money. And I felt bad that someone lost cash. But, in the end, there really was no other option.

Sorry stranger-who's-lost-money-today! I hope karma brings your money back to you one day...
