For real?

I've done it. I joined Twitter and I'm having fun. Lovin' it. It's been pretty cool having these one liners with my friends and family... and even new people who have added me. The new people who are "following" me are doing so based on my name, HappyChamorro. Since Chamorro = folks from Guam/Saipan/other Mariana Islands.

I'm following a few celebrities on Twitter. I'm fairly sure the celebs I'm following are the real deal based on some research I've done. I could be wrong. For real. Because of that, I'm hesitant in being overly excited if any of them respond to me. Which they hadn't. Until this past Sunday...

Is it really her? I think it is. Can I be 100% sure? No. But, if it was... wow. I'm starstruck. Cuz she is pretttty awesome. To me.

Dancing with the... WHUH?

Who watches Dancing With the Stars? Lemme tell ya who... I do! I love good dancers... tonight had some great team performances. I love seeing people hit choreography, feel the rhythm of the music, and just perform with such confidence and 'tude. At-ih-tude. Sweetness. I had fun watching tonight's show. Often times, I'm in the closet about being a DWTS fan... only 'cause people think it's another one of "those" shows. Dude. Entertainment value? Rocks.

I'm also a fan of the show that follows... Castle. The two stars, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, were in the crowd watching DWTS. During the shameless plug (stay tuned for Castle coming up next), they both looked awkwardly awkward. Stana was doin' that playin-it-off-don't-notice-the-camera look. And Nathan did his best to give some sort of look into the camera. Sucks being a star. Of your own show. Yeah. That sucks.

You're a weirdo

I'm really annoyed at one of my coworkers. Mr. Mood Swing. Ugh. I mean, yeah, I'm that way too... but you can't go from being overly friendly and "HI! HOWYA DOIN!!!???" everyday to, all of a sudden... nothing. And, to top it all off, you only have that spark and overly fake niceness going on to the executive who sits across from your cubicle. Not cool, man. I recognize it and all it does it makes me not think too highly of you.

The last time I talked to the guy, he was all like, "Dude... when Duran Duran comes to Marymoor Park, let me know if you want to go and I'll put you on the list." Since then? Nothing. Is it bad timing 'cause you've been sick and I'm over analyzing all this? Or do you REALLY think that I care about getting on your guest list? Dude. You're the one to offer. And I could care less about going. So step off with that 'tude. I wouldn't want to go otherwise.

Jerk.

Easily distracted

I'm two floors up above the corner of 5th Avenue and Seneca in downtown Seattle. I'm at G's work at the YWCA. Working on school work while she's slavin away. I could never work in a building with a window seat like this cuz I'd get easily pulled in by all the traffic passing by. I'm SO a people watcher. I'd better focus...

Can't help but think it

When you're a person of color (and, in my case, that color is brown), you can't help but think that a person of the caucasian persuasion just might be a little racist if he barely says anything to you but laughs it up with the other caucasoids.

I'm not saying his attitude towards me is definitely race driven. I'm just saying I can't help but wonder about him. Heck, it could be nerd-ism. I mean, just 'cause I'm a nerd doesn't mean you have to hate. OR, it could also be the fact that he doesn't need anything from me. Therefore, he just doesn't want to give me the time of day.

I always go through this thought process when folks from Texas visit our offices. I just don't know how much of my kind they're exposed to down there. Still, you should just fake it buddy. I ain't done nuttin to you... so back up, yo.

You've still got issues

Don't we all love celebrities who are messed up but who then turn around and poke fun at themselves cuz that's probably what their PR folks have told them to do if they want to look good in the eye of the public?

Oh, Lindsay... I thought you were gonna be a role model type celebrity when you were an innocent kid. I was wrong. Still, you're somewhat funny.

Lindsay Lohan's eHarmony Profile

Watch where you're goin

I'm sick at home today. Layin in living room when *BAM* ... something hit the front window. Loud thug! Dammit... there's a friggin vandal in the neighborhood throwing a rock at my house. I'll get you!

I run outside lookin for whatever was thrown at the window. Hmmmm... nothing? Except... this little bird. Uh-oh. This wasn't the work of someone trying to break our window. This was a clumsy ol' bird.

I look at the little fella... eyes are movin. That's good. A little bit of body movement. That's definitely good. I grab a little twig and lightly tap it. Awww... poor little thing. Must be scared after rammin herself into the window pane. She won't budge no matter how many times I jab her.

I grab my gloves and try to pick 'er up. Nope. Didn't like that. Flapped wings for a little bit then hopped off my gloves and back to the ground. That's alright. I decided to leave her alone. Bye bye birdie. Hope you feel better!

I'm a fan

I totally, completely, one-hundred-percent LOVE The Office. So, when the creators/producers/whatever came out with a new show, I thought, "Hey, I'll give it a chance." Parks & Recreation is the new show and it comes on right before The Office on Thursday nights. Funny? Eh... I'll have to get through a few episodes before I can completely judge. But, in the meantime, I have to say, I'm a huge fan of one of the actors... Aziz Ansari.

I'm talking to my coworker about Aziz and I'm told that he had a sketch comedy on MTV called Human Giant.

W h a t ? ?

I'd never heard of the show. My coworker sent me links to the sketch show and, I must say, I'm lovin it! I've seen only the first eight sketches from the first episode. Funny, man. Funny!

Friends in HK

I received the email below from a friend vacationing in the Philippines and Hong Kong. She's Chinese and her husband, Glen, is Filipino. I want to post this so I always remember to make sure to go with them if I ever go to China:

We're back in Philippines. Hong Kong was fun. We took mtr subway system, the Star ferry, and taxi. We went to Vitoria's Peak, haggled on Temple Street Night Market and Lady Street Night Market. Drank Chinese tonic and survived. Glen, Glen's parents and I had a wonderful time especially at the local fast food restaurant. You know the ones where they wash and rinse with only two tubs of water. One for washing food off the plates the other tub to "clean"(questionable) the remaining food debris. The dining experience started pleasant. We walked behind the man with the cleaver chopping up a juicy roasted duck to get to the dining room. How did I know it was juicy, well, by looking at the wall behind him and the slippery floor. It was COVERED in juice projectile. Some may be from the crispy roasted pig (lechon) or tender soy sauce chicken but mostly it was from the best selling fowl in that shop. May I add also that if this establishment was in USA it would have been closed due to overflowing occupational hazzard lawsuits. The place was a 10 x 10 room lit by four flourescent tubes that seated 20 ppl. We sat in the middle of the room. There's no menu with the nice pictures of the item only hand written complex chinese character food item panels sardined together covering the eye level part of the wall. The server came to our table after sitting for less than 20 seconds and asked what we wanted. Well I threw some order's together without even consulting my three guests. I informed my guest about the customary behavior of a Classic Chinese FAST Food etiquette which is mind your own business, don't ask for anything, order your food, don't hesitate, don't ponder, and eat quickly. Just imagine the Seinfeld episode "Soup Nazi". Remember what happened to Elaine. If they don't like you then your going to get kicked out or ignored. Okay it's not that bad just over exagerating. Our soup came to our table. Fifth sip into our piping hot vegetable and meat broth soup, we hear a 40'ish year old man, customer, from the outside of the shop and a mid 40 year old waiter, with a potential meat cleaver in his vicinity shouting. Customer was furious that the waiter called him a name. Waiter denies. Shouting continuous and the waiter storms into an unknown back room. The customer is not done yelling and cussing yet so he decides to sit and wait for the waiter to come back out. Well the only seat available was.....at our table!

He sits between Glen's mom and Glen. Remember the first Chinese Fast Food Etiquette..Mind your own business. That's what we did. There's still more to the story but that is all I'm going to say.

Food was a satisfatory. Ambience was classic. Experience was priceless.

Moody

Things are slow at work. I just finished a project I've been working on all morning long. Crap. It's 3pm. Let's revise that. I just finished a project I've been working on all day.

I'm really moody. I'm not up for talking to anyone. I just don't want to be here at work. I think it's a combination of having had a somewhat busy weekend, the weather being too nice outside to be indoors, the fact that I need some chill time to myself, and that now I have to look beyond my normal day-to-day tasks and start working on new type projects. I'm just not motivated.

But... in other news... I was driving to school during my lunch to sign-up for extra grad tickets. I was on I-5 going 65-70-ish MPH. I'm on the far left passing-or--speeding lane when, all of a sudden, about a five cars ahead and two lanes to the right, I see this white moving truck... with a dude hanging on to the back sliding door! Oh, man! The dude was hanging on to dear life while staring out at everyone... But he was so effin calm about it. Had a silly grin on his face. I was like, "What the hell???? DUDE! Be careful! You might fall out!"

After a few seconds pass, I all of a sudden realize that it's just a PICTURE of a guy hanging on to the door. It looked so real! The door really looked wide open with just a few things inside the truck.

I started bustin' up laughing! I couldn't believe I got piz-unked by the damn truck. Oh... LMAO! For real... laughin my chamorro-ass off! Too funny. I think I was laughing for at least two minutes straight.

You silly truck... cracked me up.

Hotness...

Picking up G from work. Oh, man. Just passed a really hot... ummm... oh-oh. That was a curvaceous....

That's not a comment. That's a statement. It was a hot lookin man-woman. Man. Dressed as a woman.

Some Tweet Stuff

I just read a short-bio of some random dude who commented on the page of Kevin-from-The-Office:

I'm a freelance writer for Braille porn and a stunt double for a hand model for Palmolive dishwashing liquid.

Is that brilliant or what?

I suited up today for G's luncheon. I've never felt so much respect from random folks. When I got back, I was in the elevator with a girl who also attended the luncheon (she saw I was holding the luncheon program). She reached into her purse and offered me a free bag of Starbucks coffee. I guess I didn't get my free bag - but she had two. I said, "It's okay. Thanks!" But, dude... I can't believe she threw herself all over me with her "do-you-want-this-bag-of-coffee" line! Suit = chick magnet. Poor ladies... this stud is taken.

Yes, I live in a fantasy world...

Another tweet moment. Felicia Day (from Dr. Horrible) tweeted:

OMG @oprah is joining Twitter for realz on her show tomorrow. Be prepared for your mom & grandma to be following you soon :O self-censor'd

So true. Prepare to have that same weirded out feeling you get when 50+ year olds tell you they have Facebook.

Inspire

I got back from G's YWCA luncheon about an hour ago. I am so proud of her. I know it takes many resources to put an event that huge together. I'd say almost 1,800 people attended. All of us fed. All of needing to be entertained. And inspired. A lot of people help with that. But, still, I know how hard G works to make sure everything goes smoothly. And you know what? It went off without any problems. At. All.

Now, I'm sure I'll hear some behind-the-scenes stories later. There always is. But I can't wait to tell her how I was smiling every moment of the event.

-volunteers guiding attendees to the ballroom
-the wide-open registration area
-quick access to our name tags with our table # on them
-live music for everyone to enjoy (playing all genres)
-couches for people to lounge on
-beautifully decorated room including
>>>the fabric draped walls
>>>showcased corporate sponsors via projector
>>>beautiful logo/colors as backdrop on the stage
>>>nicely scattered balloons
-tasty salmon salad and delicioso cream dessert
-wonderfully packed centerpiece full of items donated from Bartells (for clients)

And the stories. Man. I got all emotional listening to how the YWCA has touched people's lives. There was a video feature (made by our local KOMO news) on two different ladies. Each of them lost their jobs recently due to layoffs ala the struggling economy. Each of them have five kids. Each of them with a story of struggle turning into a story of support from the YWCA. I mean, these people have friends and family. Still, they ended up homeless. That's just a shame. Yet, the YWCA was there for them. Both the clients and their case worker were interviewed. As they spoke, they were in tears 'cause of how thankful and inspired they are by each other.

Then, another client spoke. This time, live and in front of everyone. Her life full of trials and tribulations. Loss of family members, abusive aunt/uncle raising her and her sister, alcohol abuse, being directionless. But the YWCA was there for her. Support. Not just giving free handouts and ignoring the problems. But being there to help her and other thousands of clients be self-sufficient. Very moving.

Oh, man. Just thinking of the story puts me near tears. I try to have a postive outlook on life. But I also have woe-is-me moments/days. Selfish? Yes. But I'm glad stories like these remind me to put everything in perspective. It reminds me that I don't have a damn thing to complain about. Seriously. Nothing compares.

I doubled what I was going to originally donate. Yes, that inspiring.

Happy with GLEE

Dude. Birthday wish come true. Glee premieres on FOX on my birthday! How can you go wrong?

Comedy... check.
Musical... check.
Actors from other favorite shows/movies... checkity-check.

Here's who I can see from the trailer:
Cory Monteith - Kyle XY (in the first two seasons, jerky boyfriend)
Jane Lynch - 40-Year Old Virgin (creepy store manager)
Matt Morrison - Hairspray (original Link - saw him live in Seattle/NYC)
Jessalyn Gilsig - Heroes (Claire's bio mom)
Lea Michele - Spring Awakening (saw her in NYC)
Dianna Agron - Heroes (bitchy head cheerleader in Season 2)
Jayma Mays - Heroes (awww... Charlie, Hiro's crush during the first season)

The trailer looks really good (to me). I hope this is as entertaining as some of the other new shows (like Dollhouse & Castle):

Yes... goosebumps.

More input...

What did Johnny Five say in Short Circuit?

Moooorrrree input... Need moooooore input

That's right. Johnny Five Alive was feenin' for all kinds of information. Right now? I could use the opposite. I have way too many communication tools goin at the same time here at work. Need to just go in ignore mode for a little bit. How do people do it?

--Yahoo Messenger (for mostly coworkers)
--Windows Live Messenger (for mostly friends)
--Google Talk (for notifcation of personal gmail messages/IM for other friends)
--Facebook messages/comments (notified to me via email)
--Twitter tweets (updates from whomever I'm following)
--Work email (for, ummm... work)
--Personal text messages (for whoever's gots my number)

Now, yes, you're right, I need not worry about personal messages when I'm work. And I normally don't. But, 'tis a little slow here at work. I guess that's why I'm preoccupying my time with other things. But, also, I was given a project that's requiring me to think. Ugh. I need to get back to that...

The Bigger Dance

To fulfill man's fascination with brackets and women, AM 950 KJR (Sports Radio) has it's "Bigger Dance" tournament. I made my picks. I'm not sure how to make my picks public... but the following link will take you to a print out of the bracket...

Printable Bigger Dance Bracket

Here's how it works:

The Bigger Dance is played much like NCAA Basketball March Madness. Between 9am April 7th and 6:30am April 16th, 2009, thousands of KJRam listeners will fill out brackets, selecting which "CELEBRITY BABE" they think would win in 63 match-ups. Match winners are determined by on-the-air voting of 3 1/2 minute matches with listener phone calls, weekdays at 6:50, 7:50, 8:50 and 9:50 AM, beginning Thursday, April 16, 2009.

So, surprise surprise... my pick to win it all is Jessica Alba. Yes, I'm grinning.

W H A T ?

I actually got a little emotional watching this. No shiz-nit. You gotta love people who show you that you'd better damn well look beyond the surface. Talent is talent and it doesn't matter what form it comes in.

Susan Boyle - Singer - Britains Got Talent 2009

I'd embed the video if I could but this particular video doesn't allow it. Susan's on the other end of the age spectrum compared to Charice, the Filipino singing sensation that showed up on Oprah last year (or the year before?). Good stuff.

Wihk-wihk-wihk-wihk

When your shoes make loud wihk-ing sounds, that probably means it's time to stop wearing 'em, right? Our CEO has passed my office several times today and I can't help but hear his black casual shoes wihk loudly with each and every step. Oddly enough, I'm wearing my wihk-wihk shoes as well. They're ol' blue Nike walking shoes that can't seem to shut up no matter how carefully I walk. And I love 'em so much. But I'd better replace 'em 'cause if I'm noticing the sound Victor's shoes are making, I'm sure other folks are tired of my sounds.

The worst is when I'm walking somewhere quiet. All I can hear are my shoes saying, "HEY... YOU... LOOK... AT ME... NEED... NEW... PAIRS... OF... SHOES!" <--(Each word is a translation of the wihk-wihk sound. in case you didn't get what I was doin' there.)

But I've been buying too many things lately. Soon-to-be-jobless guy needs to chill the heck out.

Emails

I'm tryin to get all savvy with my personal email. For 13 years, I've relied on my work email for communicating with folks. Now I've gotta get more used to my gmail account.

But go figure... I just realized that I could configure my Treo to check for new gmail emails automatically. Ummm... duh? Sheesh. I've had the phone for almost two years and I'm just now figuring this out.

A friend of mine were just chattin about facebook. Yeah. Not so into it anymore. Thanks Lent. You got me out of that rut...

Tweetin

I did it. I signed up for a Twitter account. I'm happychamorro. 'Cause I'm Chamorro. And I'm happy.

I'm not going to link it to this blog. The world doesn't have get into my business in here. It might be a good way for me to have mini topics to blog about more later. In case I don't have the time at a particular moment - but then want to remember to write about it later.

Tiger

Happy Easter! That means it's Facebook time! OR, we'll see how much longer I can go without logging in. Maybe the next time I get a friedship request or message. We'll see.

It's late and I'm watching the end of SNL. There was this "cute" Tiger Woods animated Gatorade commercial. At one point, all the animals are dancing. I just start cracking uppity-up 'cause the rabbit is... well, you just have to watch:

Did ya see it? At the 46 second mark? At the lower part of the screen, the rabbit appears and he's doing "the" dance. Extremely funny. I watched it over again & over again. Might be funny only to me. But funny nonetheless. Clever I tell ya.

Movie Tagline Quiz

From last night's trivia night... I remember nine answers from the category of Movie Taglines. Listed below are nine movie taglines and the year the movie was released. Your job? Name the movie. I'll post the answers in the comments. Good luck!

2 Out of the darkness....there comes the Knight. - 2008
3 You Won't Believe Your Eye. - 2001
4 She walked off the street, into his life and stole his heart. - 1990
5 The ultimate romantic disaster movie. - 2008

Facebook Cometh

What a day! I've been working my ass off compiling three years of data for friggin tax purposes. Damn NEC HQ and all their requests. I guess it's my fault for having sat on the request so long. My boss emailed me on 3/17 saying it needed to be done by 4/10. So when do I decide to focus all my efforts on it? On 4/10, of course. I just sent off the email about ten minutes ago. It's 8pm in Dallas. Yeah, I'm sure they won't see it until Monday. I'm surprised nobody from their tax department asked for a status update. I guess they're busy with other things and not wanting to play babysitter with me. But I did what I needed to do. When someone gives me only a date as a deadline, I assume I can get it to them as late as 11:59pm.

And while I'm on the topic of Friday, don't you think Mondays & Fridays get shit on? I always use them as scapegoats. Especially when I'm tired and can't help someone 'cause I have no energy to think. On Mondays, someone asks me some complex question? I'm like, "Dude... ask me another day. It's Monday. I got nuttin for ya."

Or, on Fridays... same thing, "You expect me to help you? Don't you realize it's Friday? Damn Friday."

Yeah, I blame them a lot for my inability to produce on those days. Poor fellas. I don't take out my frustrations on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday? I usually don't use or abuse them. Well... actually, that's not true. Sometimes, I make them feel less important. That's right. Like when I say, "Man, I can't wait until Friday." I guess that's when they're shit on too. Poor Tuesday through Thursday.

And I can't wait until Sunday. Easter. End of Lent. Facebook. I''ll see you soon, baby...

Champion

I'm part of this season's regular season champs for Jillian's Pop Culture Trivia! And... we won tonight's competition by only one point! That means each of the following answers that I came up with helped the team out:

1. The five-letter artist who is the latest to have collaborated with Justin? Ciara
2. The 2008 Oscar winning writer who currently has a column for Entertainment Weekly? Diablo Cody
3. TV show whose theme song is "My Life" by Billy Joel? Bosom Buddies
4. TV show whos theme song is "Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett? Freaks and Geeks

For tonight's win, our five-person team split $95. And, for the season, we split $475 between seven different people. Playoffs are coming on May 2... We'll have another chance at more money that night!

[yawn... time to sleepy sleep]

Suit Up

I gots me two outfits today. First, a black business suit from K & G Superstore.

(Yes, surprise, surprise... a store by that name sells super cheap suits. Hopefully, the one I chose doesn't look cheap.)

I figured I'd might as well buy a suit where the buttons aren't about to bust loose. I've gotta look my best for a fundraiser luncheon next week. The suit will also be good to have for job interviews. AND, I'll wear it on June 14 along with the other outfit I picked up today...

My cap and gown. Jyeah! Even though I already have my degree in my hands (and in that frame pictured above), I'm looking forward to giving my mom something for her to connect with. I think I've really done her proud!

Yeah, I faked it

A coworker of mine asked me to lunch. Not a sit-down-let's-enjoy-each-other's-company kinda lunch. It was a simple hey-wanna-grab-something-to-eat-and-bring-it-back-to-work-and-eat-on-our-own type of invite. Still, I didn't want to. She's been so rude to another coworker of mine for such a long time now. Although I don't have any beef with her, I feel like she's been very mean to others and I've had enough of it. I hate myself for being nice to rude people sometimes. I'm gonna make it a point to bring lunch on a regular basis again just to avoid going with her anywhere.

She did catch me off guard when she asked if I brought lunch. I told her that I had to go to school to buy a book. I was so quick. It was awesome. I also added that I was gonna bring G some lunch. Yeah, take that. TWO lies. Although one became a reality. I know G enjoyed this particular lie. Nothing like food delivered to you. Lloyd's Lunches. That's right.

I'm so glad I went out for lunch. Friggin finally 70 degrees around here. It's a heatwave I tell ya!

Ten seconds

I opened a word doc on my laptop intending to write about the following line I heard on Oprah last week:

Healthy couples should have a minimum ten-second kiss everyday to be happy.

It was a show on the topic of attraction between men and women, sex, etc. I found that comment by a researcher to be very interesting. At least ten seconds everyday. As with all kinds of research, you should just take out of it what makes sense. But, hmmm... pecks don't count. She considered a real kiss to be a ten second one. That's kinda long, don't ya think? HA! I kid.. I do! ;)

Note to self

Last night, I was wanting something sweet. Searched the kitchen. Nothing worth eatin. I rummaged around the kitchen to see what ingredients we had. Let's see... flour, white sugar, brown sugar (not much), peanut butter, eggs... dang. Not much. I input what I had on allrecipes.com and the ingredients we didn't have (like vanilla extract, baking soda/powder). Sheesh. The recipes available where blah-ish.

Although I was super lazy, the desire to eat something sweet overcame my need to leave my butt glued to the living couch. I looked up a recipe for chocolate chip cookies and off I went to Safeway. I left four sticks of butter out before headin out in order to let 'em soften up. I was so happy when I returned home. This baking stuff was gonna be easy!

Wrong. Mutha fuh-ther. The butter wasn't soft enough for the hand mixer to cream. And with no other appliances, I had to mix that stuff myself. I kept switching between a fork and wooden spoon. 15 minutes of supposed prep time turned into an hour plus of excrutiating battling with cookie batter. I finally got everything mixed around midnight.

That was quite the event last night. I ended up making a friggin hundred cookies. And, no, that's not an exaggeration. There's really over one-hundred cookies. Now, they're not pretty. And they're not the greatest. But they're not bad considering I haven't made chocolate chip cookies since 8th grade home-ec class back in 1987. Dude. 22 years. But, note to self... I have to make sure to buy a food processor or a blender which can cream butter. No way I'm going through that crap again.

Gotta prove my skillz

It's such a beautiful day out! That sun is just glaring down on us here in Seattle. This is why we love this city. We take those rainy days knowing that, right around the corner, ummm... eventually, is the beautiful days. We've got the water, the mountains, and all dem trees. This city can be so outstanding...

I'm sitting in my living room chillin with Nelly Furtado. Her concert is showing on one of these HD channels. And this is why I love this new TV.

I spent the last fifteen minutes conjuring an email to send to an instructor at Souuth Seattle Community College. She wants me to take a beginning computer course in order to take her Access class. Oh, c'mon. Really? I hope I don't have to... i hope my email to her shows that I got the right stuff...

Hello. Thanks for considering my request. I apologize for the late response but it's year-end at work and I've been completely swamped.

I have worked in accounting since January 1996. I graduated in December 2008 with a B.S. in Accounting from Central Washington University. I'm hoping your course will help me achieve a higher level of proficiency with Access. I've worked with Access 2000/2003 for years but I'd like to be properly educated on its features.

As far as my computer expertise goes, I feel very comfortable with various programs. I completed Accounting Information Systems (ACCT 455) at Central Washington University with a 4.0 during Fall 2007. I also scored a 4.0 in my Spreadsheets course (BUS 177) during Winter Quarter at South Seattle. My 13+ years of work experience has helped me become very familiar with all user-level aspects of computers.

I will register for the Beginning Computers (CSC 100) course if you deem it necessary. But I'm hoping you'll allow me to register for CTN 120 based on my past exposure to and experience with computers. Would you like me to take a test? I should be able to meet with you on Monday, April 6. I will be working during the day but I should be able to leave for a bit to meet with you. Please let me know if we can talk with you that day. I can meet anytime.

Yeah. Take that computer nazi...

One good thing

At least I inherited an old employee's plant for my office. The real question is... how long can I keep it alive?

Endings

ER. Last episode. I didn't regularly watch the show. But it's sad seeing it come to an end.

Active Voice. Last day for the company was this past Tuesday. I've been a faithful employee for over thirteen years. Very sad seeing it all come to an end.

Fiscal year end. It's been non-stop working this entire week. I'm such a loyal freak of an employee working so many hours, late at night and in the wee hours of the morning. I'll be so happy when tomorrow comes and the week comes to an end.

All those old coworkers of mine. Such a weird feeling to see people I've worked with for over ten years leave the company. A few of them I hardly knew, but most of them I've seen for over a decade. Many more of us will be gone in the coming months but I'm excited for the new opportunities after it all ends.

...

My HR manager of two years asked me to walk with her to her car on her last day. She called me out of a department lunch (pizza... mmmmmmmm). She got to leave at noon. Hope I'll be able to do that. Anyhoo, she merely waved goodbye to everyone in the room as we both walked to her honkin huge gas guzzler. She just needed me to grab her parking permit from the garage and bring back to the office. We get to her car, she grabs the permit, hands it to me, then says, "Alright... gimme a hug..."

Awwwww... shucks!

That was really nice.

Another coworker, from Marketing, comes by my office to say her goodbye. We've been friends for years but I've never ever given her a hug. I was sittin the whole time, chatting for a awhile, then I apologize and say I'd better get back to work. She's like, "Alright..." then makes the I'm-gonna-give-you-a-hug motion!!! Awesome. Hugs goodbye!!!

Just 'cause I don't initiate hugs, people assume I'm not a hugger. Wrong. I love me a good hug. Of course, only from people I like. I'm no hug whore. The day people left, I made it a point to visit our Accounting Manager. In the past, she's said stuff to me like, "Oh yeah... you don't like to be touched" whenever she's had to make physical contact with me. You know... like when I'm accidentally in her way meor when she's wanted to give me a punch for being a smartass.

I tell her, "Now, Kathy... when you leave in June, I just want to tell you... I'm going to be expecting a hug! People don't think I like to give hugs. Wrong. I'm a total hugger. I just don't initiate. I respect women's personal space and just don't want to violate that. I guess I'm weird like that... but, you know, when your last day comes, there's gonna be a hug!"

Ha! That made her laugh! We have both been so stressed this week and, despite her snapping at me a couple of times, I'm really going to miss her and the good team we've made the past couple of years. Only two years older than my mom, she's been quite a joy to be around... despite any complaints I've had in the past. :)
